Optimal Targeted Lockdowns in a Multigroup SIR Model

نویسندگان

چکیده

We study targeted lockdowns in a multigroup SIR model where infection, hospitalization, and fatality rates vary between groups—in particular the “young,” “middle-aged,” “old.” Our enables tractable quantitative analysis of optimal policy. For baseline parameter values for COVID-19 pandemic applied to US, we find that policies differentially targeting risk/age groups significantly outperform uniform most gains can be realized by having stricter protective measures such as on more vulnerable, old group. Intuitively, strict long lockdown both reduces infections less lower-risk groups. (JEL H51, I12, I18, J13, J14)

Threshold dynamics of an SIR epidemic model with hybrid of multigroup and patch structures.

In this paper, we formulate an SIR epidemic model with hybrid of multigroup and patch structures, which can be regarded as a model for the geographical spread of infectious diseases or a multi-group model with perturbation. We show that if a threshold value, which corresponds to the well-known basic reproduction number R0, is less than or equal to unity, then the disease-free equilibrium of the...

Dynamics of a multigroup epidemiological model with group-targeted vaccination strategies.

A multigroup SIR epidemiological model is used to study the effects of group-targeted vaccination strategies on disease control and prevention. The model takes into consideration both proportionate and preferential mixing patterns between groups. We show that the dynamical behaviors of the model are determined by the control reproduction number R(v) and, under certain conditions, by the type-re...

Optimal vaccination and treatment in the SIR epidemic model

ABSTRACT Mathematical epidemiological models for the dynamics of infections that induce lifelong immunity have been extensively developed. In this work, we consider a nonlinear SIR model given by a nonlinear system describing the dynamics of the interaction between susceptible and infective individuals in population. We analyze the dynamical behavior of the nonlinear system and then use two typ...

Stability Analysis and Optimal Control of Vaccination and Treatment of a SIR Epidemiological Deterministic Model with Relapse

In this paper, we studied and formulated the relapsed SIR model of a constant size population with standard incidence rate. Also, the optimal control problem with treatment and vaccination as controls, subject to the model is formulated. The analysis carried out on the model, clearly showed that the infection free steady state is globally asymptotically stable if the bas...

SIR Model

The diseases we are discussing have been classified as microparasitic. Examples of microparasitic diseases are chicken pox, measles, HIV/AIDS, influenza and tuberculosis. Diseases due to worms, for example, are called macroparasitic. Other than the size of the infecting agent, the main distinction is that the microparasites reproduce within their hosts and are transmitted directly from one host...
